Hotel Politics

Jarid Watson, NCC News

Go to a hotel - get a room - and get some rest. Onm most nights, that's all you'd really expect at the Holiday Inn on Electronics Boulevard in Liverpool New York. On the night I stopped by though, the building was playing host to several election night events.

Some came to vote, like Jane Librizzi of Liverpool, who said, "I'm not angry. I'm just here to do my duty." Undoubtedly, she wanted to make it clear she wasn't feeling like some of the people you may have seen on T.V.

As Jan Coombs walked to the side door of the hotel, ready to place her picks, she expressed her feelings about government spending saying, "I mean we do have to pay some taxes for some of the services we use; so, you're never going to have a tax free world. But they should be realistic and fair."

Other folks were there to set up for the Onondaga Democrats' Election Night Party, being held down the hall from the polling area in the Holiday Inn's convention center. Kate Tuttle, an organizer for the night's festivities, said she's looking forward to a break... but not yet, as she reminded me of her "lack of sleep" and "many hours campaigning."

A bartender tells me that once the polls are closed at 9pm, they are expecting three-hundred democrats to show up. Party-goers will most likely be glued to the results as they come in; there are projectors set up in the corners of the convention center already showing local news coverage.

And then maybe, long after boters Jan and Jane head home, and Onondaga Democrats are finally partied out, Kate Tuttle can just head to one of the rooms here - get a room - and get some rest.
